The Race
The Cheshire Triathlon is a major event attracting around a thousand competitors, I've been a few times to support my wife who takes part and get some pictures for her website where there are more photos and information about the race for those who are interested.
The Photography
This year I decided to get some shots of the other competitors as well and went armed with my new EOS 40D and the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 Lens. I hope I've managed to capture something of the essence of this kind of event where people of all ages and abilities come together to prove to themselves that they can do it.
Race Day
This was our first BSB Race and the first time at Outlon Park so we didn't really know what to expect. Having spent some time walking around on the first day of the meeting we had decided to stand near Knickerbrook where you could see a reasonable amount of the race and were close enough to the circuit to get some good photos without fences obscuring the view. As expected, this was a popular place so we were glad we'd arrived early, this also meant we avoided the traffic and got to see plenty of action in the warm-ups etc. The weather was overcast and threatening rain, we just hoped it would hold off during the racing.
The Match
Morley RFC 1st XV are currently near the bottom of the National Leagues (National Three North) and this match, against fellow tail-enders Macclesfield, was critical as they both strive to avoid relegation. Morley looked strong throughout and a penalty put them ahead early. They certainly had the lion's share of the possession but Macclesfield played a determined defence allowing only one try in each half, the match finished 13 - 0, a good result for Morley.
First Stage
This morning we went to the first stages of the 2007 Roger Albert Clark Rally, held at Temple Newsam in Leeds. This is the first Rally to be held at Temple Newsam since the Network Q RAC Rally in 1996 and was organised by the De Lacy Motor Club who are based a few miles away in Knottingley.
