The final MotoGP at Donington Park before it moves to Silverstone in 2010. The place was packed, we arrived 2 1/2 hours before the warm-up started and still struggled to find a decent seat near the Esses.
It drizzled throughout the MotoGP race which contributed to some great racing and a few incidents. I was lucky to have the camera on Rossi as he took a tumble, incredibly he was back on the road only 24 seconds after he came down.
A great race and a well deserved victory (...)

Tried something a bit different today and went to the Bike Trials at Addingham Moorside. The weather held reasonably and we had a great time. We'll definitely be looking for more of these events.
I didn't really know what to expect and only took one lens, my 120-300mm. This was a mistake as I would have had much better luck with something wider. Nevertheless, I got some shots I am pleased with for a first time.

Welcome to my new, improved Amateur Sports Photography site.
The old site had not been being updated as often as I would like. This is primarily because I had made the process of getting images from the camera to the web page too time consuming. Although the combination of Drupal and its Image Module were poweful and flexible there were just too many little tasks that had to be done each time I uploaded a new album. I expect with more effort I could have improved that (...)

Another weekend at Donington, this time for the WSBK. This is a great year for the Brits with several riders including Shakey Byrne, Leon Haslam, Jonathon Rea and Tom Sykes now full time in the championship and top BSB Team Airwaves Yamaha fielding two wildcards with Leon Camier and James Ellison.
All these shots were taken from near the Foggy Esses and most were on the Saturday qualifying day, as I put the camera down and just enjoyed the racing on Sunday. Race two was especially exciting (...)

This was my first visit to Donington since they started the work to prepare for the F1 in 2010. There had been some doubt as to whether the race would be on due to changes at the circuit not getting safety approval. Once there, it was difficult to see what had changed, less access was available particularly to the infield and there seemed to be a whole lot less people there. Worst thing was the food, those vans are never the best place to get a burger but they were absolutely awful this time, (...)

Our first Superbike race of the season, as they come to the North for the first time this year.
Great to see Guintoli mixing it at the front in his first season and even better to see that Camier, Easton, Ellison and Harris etc. are not letting him have it all his own way.
The race shots were taken from Knickerbrook, most of the rest were taken from the infield near the Pit Lane exit, all were taken with the Canon 100-400mm.

A very popular Triathlon held in Nantwich, my wife was taking part so I spent some time taking photos.
I am, as ever, so impressed by anyone who can not only complete these events but has the determination to be out in all weathers and all times of the day to do the required training.

This was our first British Superbike meeting and our first trip to Oulton Park. We went for all three days to allow us to get a good feel for the place and decide where we'd like to be on raceday. Having taken the requisite number of solo bike shots during the practice and qualifying sessions I tried to capture more of the race action on the Sunday, I hope that comes across in the later images.
